The term wrongful death represents a broad category of legal cases where one individual’s untimely death is the direct result of another individual’s negligence. Wrongful deaths occur in a number of different contexts: car accidents, construction site mishaps, slip and fall accidents, dangerous roadways, medical malpractice situations, and fires in the home, to name just a few.
In a wrongful death case, the goal of our legal team is to achieve some form of justice and closure. We want to compensate the survivors and beneficiaries, while reprimand the at-fault parties for their negligence.
The following types of damages are considered in a wrongful death case:
- Sorrow, mental anguish, loss of companionship, loss of comfort and/or guidance;
- The expected loss in income of the deceased individual;
- The expected loss of services, protection, care, and/or assistance which the deceased individual provided to the survivors/beneficiaries;
- Expenses for the care, treatment, and hospitalization related to the injury and subsequent death of the deceased individual
